Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

You will be asked to undress to your underwear for the examination and treatment. Depending on what needs looking at you can probably wear shorts and a vest.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes – if you wish, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment.

Does it hurt?

Some treatment techniques may cause discomfort during treatment. Kathryn will tell you what to expect, and will want you to let her know if you are in pain. Some patients experience stiffness or aching following treatment for 24-48hours, but this is a normal response to the changes that occur during treatment. Please get in touch if you experience this for more that 48hours.

Do I need to see my doctor first?

You do not need to see your doctor first, you can self refer to an osteopath.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring a list of medication you are taking. If you have had investigations such as MRIs, x-rays or other scans it can be useful to bring a copy of the report if you have it.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you will need depends on the condition. We aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. Your osteopath will be able to tell you within a short period of time whether they can treat you or if they need to refer you to someone else.

How long will my appointment last?

Your appointment will last upto 45 minutes, please allow at least this amount of time.
